M'GLASHAN COLLEGE PIPE BAND
The announcement that a concert will be given in the Town Hall on Thursday, August 20, in aid of the funds of the M'Glashan College Pipe Band, has already aroused considerable r'nterest. The appearance of the Columha College Girls’ Choir under the conductorship of Miss Ida White is sure to be. greatly appreciated, as will be the singing of the M'Glashan College Choir. It is very appropriate that the Dunedin Highland Pipe Band should take a prominent part in the programme. Amongst the various musical organisations in the city none is more popular than the St. Kilda Band, which will also be heard.Amongst the most acceptable items will be Highland dancing by Miss Wheeler’s party. A very unusual, but most interesting, feature of the entertainment will be the display of physical drill by the M'Glashan College team. Miss Ethel Wallace has made a distinct place for herself in tho musical activities of this city, and . her violin / playing is marked by a Ugh standard of musical attainment and interpretative ability. The Council of Scottish Societies is particularly fortunate in having as its vocalists Miss Freda Elmes, Mr Arthur McDonald, and Mr John Kennedy. Their contributions to the evening’s entertainment should give pleasure.Begg’s Orchestra will provide popular selections between 7,40 and 8 o’clock, so that those who . attend early will find pleasure and enjoyment before the commencement of the actual concert.
