FRENCH OCCUPATION DISCUSSED BY LEAGUE COUNCIL. Pres* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, September 9. (Received September 10, at 1.5 p.m.) During a frank debate at the Geneva Council meeting regarding the continuance of the French occupation of the Saar Basin Dr Curtins (Germany) urged its speedy termination. M. Briand replied stating that only 250 troops were now necessary to ensure the free movement or trains. Franco did not intend to maintain permanent occupation. It was arranged that Dr Curtins, M. Briand, and Signor Grandi should discuss the matter as a preliminary to the council’s examination.
