MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE The weekly meeting of the. Management Committee of tho Otago Football Association was held last.evening* Mill. Simpson being. in : tho, chair. Tho Secretary of the Y.M.C.A. Club advised that the first grade team would have to default nest Saturday on account of the shortage of* players.—ln view of this report the Match'Committee recommended that tho association accept tho invitation to play- a team from tho H.M.S, Dunedin next Saturday. Members pointed out, that it would be impossible to postpone tho matches next week on account of Scacliff’s position in the competition. It was decided, that tho selectors pick a combined. team from ' Northern, Y.M.C.A., and Port Chalmers to meet tho naval team at Logan Park in a curtain raiser to the big match next Saturday.,,.-'' In a letter from the H.M.S. Dunedin it was pointed out that tho crow desired to hold the final of tho, ship’s interport Soccer competition, and asked tho association for the use oL a,ground on Monday, September, 1.-—lt was decided to grant the uso .of Logan' Park. On the recommendation of-tho Match Committee it was-decided to concludo tho third grade competition and declare Mosgiel the winners, , , v The Secretary reported that no results of tlic Wednesday competitions were to hand, and it was impossible to proceed with tho draw. The Secretary of the Canterbury Association wrote (thanking tho ,locnl association for entertaining the Western team on tho occasion of tho South Island final of this'Chatham Cup game. —Received.

Sovorat members raised tho question as to wliother tho expense in sending a team-on such 0/ trip would bojustiiied. , , ■. ■ , Tho Secretary pointed out-that n a team were sent the. association would show a heavy loss on tho year’s workings. ■ v , „ On tho motion of Mr F. H. Ball, it was decided to thank the Westland Association for its invitation, and point out that- in view of tliq local competition it was found impossible to send a team to play for tho Peter Dawsou Cup this season, but that it was hoped to enter a challenge next season, SATURDAY’S MATCHES First Grade.—Technical v.
