' The party of' sixty Australian dairymen which has been touring the North Island for the past eleven days under the auspices of Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., terminated its tour at Wellington yesterday, when the majority of the delegates left on their return to Sydney by the Uliraaroa. “It has •been a wonderful time,” said Mr O. S. Stoning, leader of the party, to a reporter. “We have travelled 1,100 miles by cor and 100 miles by rail, and have seen in the short space of eleven days not only the main farming districts of the North island, but also the scenic beauties and charms of the thermal regions and Mount Kgmont. Apart from the dairying aspect of our trip the tour will have been abundantly worth while for New Zealand, as every member of the delegation will be a walking advertisement for the country for years to come. New Zealand is e wonderful country, with arfiazing pastures, and is supremely blesscdi for dairying purposes. We shall leave with a marked impression of abundant prosperity in this favoured land." Prior to sailing the whole delegation gathered to present to Mr W. Goodfellow a Maori carved clock and a letter of appreciation as mementoes of the visit to New Zealand. A handsome cigar ette case, suitably inscribed, was presented to Mr F. Allan Marcroft, of Amalgamated Uairies, who was responsible for the detailed organisation in connection with the tour. On Tuesday evening, March 4, the monthly meeting of the Cambrian Society of Otago took the form of a dinner, to celebrate the St. David’s Day anniversary A large number of members and friends being present, a thoroughly • enjoyable evening was spent by all. Musical and elocutionary items and dancing were indulged in to a late hour. A poem entitled ‘ Wales —a Memory,’ was composed and road by one of the members of the society, and was very well received. . A verse of the National Anthem brought to a close a very successful meeting.
