NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN
The Dunedin branch of tho National Council of Women held the first meeting of the year last week with a good attendance of members. The president (Mrs Aslin) welcomed the new members, and Mrs Holloway (representing tho Mothers’ Union), Mrs Herbert (Biscuit and Confectionery Employees’ Union), Miss Logie (Otago Women Musicians’ Association), and Miss Tait (Women 'Teachers’ Association). Seasonal greetings were received from the Marchioness of Aberdeen (international president) and from Mrs Fraer (dominion president, A report of tho recent meeting of the Chamber of Commerce Committee on Vocational Guidance was read, and Miss Sberriff was appointed' as the council’s delegate to this committee. Booklets were distributed to members in' connection with the obstetrical appeal, and correspondence from the Creche Committee was lead. It was agreed that the most suitable date for tho jumble sale would he about tho beginning of May, and members proinised to do their best to make this a success.
Sister Kirkpatrick, who had been on a holiday in Australia, gavo a most interesting resume of her trip, describing much of the country, and told of the excellent work done by the members of the Junior Red Cross in both Sydney and Dlelbourne. She was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
