INFLUENZA TREATMENT
NEW DRUG DISCOVERED MUCH SUCCESS REPORTED LONDON, October 11. “Tho most valuable agent discovered for the- treatment of influenza,” is the ‘ British Medical Journal’s ’ description of a new drug, known as S.U.P. 36. It is claimed that tho drujg, which is injected into tho patient, _ will icvolntionise the treatment of influenza. An investigating doctor showed that tho fever was reduced in a day and ahalf, compared with three days by ordinary methods; that a headache lasted a day instead of two: and that the days in bed were reduced to three, compared with six formerly. The injection must he delivered in tho first forty-eight hours of an acute illness—the earlier the better. It is claimed that an early dose wards off an attack, while a dose at a slightly later stage means a rapid recovery.
