Arrangements have been made for an early discussion between the Minister of transport (Air Herbert Morrison) and representatives of the insurance companies of Great Britain on the question of compulsory third-party motor insurance. The insurance companies are understood to have intimated to the Ministry of Transport that slum hi it be decided to proceed with the scheme they would willingly co-operate. The insurance companies readied this decision after studying the details ol tho Transport Ministry's proposals. In addition to making it obligatory upon owners of motor _ vehicles to insure their vehicles against third-party risks the scheme compels all motor drivers, unless specially exempt, to carry their certificates of insurance when in charge of a motor vehicle, failure to do so being punishable with fines up to £SO or the alternative ot three mouths’ imprisonment.
