INDECENT ASSAULT ALLEGED [Peu Press Assocutiok.J AUCKLAND October 21. Doctor Balder Singh Slum-, aged lorry-six, nil Indian doctor, appeared in the Police Court to-day charged with indecently assaulting "a woman aged twenty-tliroc, on September 20. The woman said she went to accused’s surgery to have a finger dressed. Accused attended, to bei, and afterwards remarked that she was not a very robust girl. He advised examination. .Witness partially undressed, and Share carried out an examination. Witness became suspicious Share gave her a certificate for two weeks' holi-. day, and said she could come back for further examination whenever she liked. Witness went back to her work, and complained to liei employer, a woman. That night she told her young man of what happened and complaint was later made to the police Dr Tewsicy, police surgeon, said a certain part of the examination carried out by Share, as described by the girl, was very unusual Detective-Sergeant Kellv said be received a complaint from a woman on October 1. Tbo following day be went to Dr Share’s room at 11.20 to execute a search warrant. When told of the allegations made by the young woman, accused described the examination which ho made, and denied all the allegations made by the girl. Witness was handed some ordinary photographs by Share. He found a number of indecent photographs, which Share said no one else had seen but his wife and himself. When accused was arrested on October 1-1, Share said: “ It's a serious charge; it’s bard when a slip of a, girl can make a charge against a doctor.” After reading the warrant himself, accused said it was untrue, but added that be would admit there were some very bad photographs found. “ I have been up against it for some lime,” bo said “If I sell my homo and leave the country will it make any difference. L’his will kill my wifo and my son.” Share pleaded not guilty, reserved his defence, and was committed to the Supremo Court for trial Bail was allowed.
