BENEFIT CONCERT
HR F. WALKER ASSISTED For two and a-half years now one of Dunedin’s citizens, Mr F Walker, has been unable to work owing to illness, and to assist that gentleman and his family a benefit concert was given in His Majesty’s Theatre last evening. The performing artists were among the best that the town can produce, and the programme was made up of a verypleasing assortment of musical and elocutionary items, which won the plaudits of the audience. Encores were generously given by the performers in response to the demands of the audience. Commencing with an orchestral selection, played by Begg’s orchestra, the programme was as follows: —Contralto s6lo‘ Miss Netta Wilkie; baritone solo, Mr W. Ruffell; cornet solo, Dir J. Barker; song, Aliss Molly Vickers; dance duo, Misses Kitty Eckhoff and Edna Todd; recita l . Air Lester Aloller; part songs. G.T and W.A. Entertainers’ Choir; selection, Bogg’s orchestra; part songs, C.T and W.A. Entertainers’ Choir; recital, Miss Anzac Patton; song, Miss Ina Blackwood; xylophone solo, Mr Ted Andrews; duet, Misses Bessie Den ford and Olga Wynne; ballet, pupils of the Otago School of Dancing; humorous recital, Mr Lester Moller; bass solo, Air Ron. Duncan. The accompanist was Aliss Kathleen Whelan.
