CHAMPIONSHIP TO E. P. GRAHAM The annual club championship was held at the Dunedin Gun Club’s ground, Green Island, on Saturday afternoon, and attracted a good entry from members. Apart from a slight breeze the weather conditions favoured the shooters, and at the eighteenth bird there were six competitors with a winning chance. The championship is an endurance test of skill, twenty-one birds off 14yds, and the score board displayed a creditable percentage of first barrel breaks. The best scores were E. P. Graham, 19 breaks (three second barrels); W. Smellie, 10 (one second barrel); G. E. Turner, 18; - R. Graham, IS; T. Long, 17 ; W.M‘Breen, 17; R. M‘Donald, 15. To decide the championship E. P. Graham and W. Smellie both missed their first two birds in the shoot-off. and the latter missed the fourth, leaving E. P. Graham the winner. For third prize trophy G. E. Turner won from R. Graham in the second round. In presenting the cup trophy the president of the club (Mr G. E. Turner) extended congratulations to E. P. Graham and the runner-up (W. Smellie), and remarked that Graham’s consistency was due to training, and tho honour of champion should be the aim of all members. Mr Graham suitably responded, and stated that he was lucky to win against the runner-up. A nine-bird handicap sweepstake followed, and the best scores were G. E. Turner, 17yds, 8; E. P. Graham, 32vds, 8; R. M'Donald, 12yds, 8; L. E. Wilson, 11yds, 8; W. M'Breen, 14yds, 8; A. J. White, 11yds, 8. These competitors carried on for a further three birds each, and the sweepstake money was divided between 6. E. Turner, R. M‘Donald, and W. M'Breen, with three breaks each. A six-bird double rise sweepstake concluded the afternoon’s sport, and with five breaks each the sweepstake money was divided between G. E. Turner, R. M'Donald, and A. J. White. Other best scores were W. M'Breen 4 and R. Graham 4.
