AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP [Pkb United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, October 19. In the fifty-mile amateur championship road race J. L. Richards (3min) secured the fastest time of 2h 26min 43 3-ssec. The placings were as follow ; W. G. Hughey (12min), 2h 33min 50sec 1 W. A. Christensen (15min), 2b 36min 50 l-ssec ... 2 6. Humphreys (12min), 2h 36rain 3 Richards finished sixth; M. Gane, 3min (Wellington), was seventh; D. Toomer, Bmin (Wellington), sixteenth; and W. J. Templeton, lOmin (Dunedin), seventeenth.
