A feature of the billiards to-day was the splendid average of Lindrum in the afternoon. The Australian’s break of 688 included a remarkable run of 145 consecutive cushion cannons. The exchanges in the evening were more even and M'Conachy was scoring with rare confidence. He varied his play, preferring to score off the red, and he brought the session to a close with an unfinished 320, wdiicb was scored rapidly. He was never afraid to attempt a difficult shot. On several occasions ho was dogged by bad luck, but he managed to manoeuvre the balls into scoring positions. TWO BIG BREAKS. LONDON, October 20. M'Conachy outpointed Lindrum at the afternoon session, and increased his unfinished break of 320 to 570, after which Lindrum had a run of 1(38, but was in difficulties, and was unable to augment his score. M'Conachy took full advantage of the lapse. Lindrum ultimately found his true form, and closed the session with 597, unfinished. M’Conachy averaged 206 and Lind rum 160. In the evening Lindrum had runsof 56 and 135 close cannons, after which the play was featureless. On one occasion Lindrum was in such a quandry that he asked the spectators what shot they would advise. The three balls were in direct line, with *he white overhanging the pocket.
