But for the intervention of the police the two occupants of a motor car might have received serious injury at the hands of a crowd at the New Brighton gala on Saturday evening. Mrs Donald Robb was walking along the street accompanied by her two young daughters, Monica and Lorna, and wheeling her baby in a pushchair when, at the corner of Sea View road and George street, a motor car ran into the party, knocking the push chair and Lorna over, and passing right over Monica. The bystanders, evidently being of the opinion that the occupants of the car bad not taken due care, assumed a most hostile attitude, and were endeavoring to drag the driver and his companion from their seats when the police intervened. The condition of the girl Monica » fairly serious.
