LAUNCH ON FIRE

TWO LIVES LOST MANY MEN INJURED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. BERLIN, January 12. (Received January 13, at 1.50 p.m.) One of the great motor launches used to convoy Hamburg’s dock laborers to work caught fire in the Elbe as the result of the explosion of a benzine tank. Ninety men were aboard the vessel, which was halfway over the river, when the flames shot from the motor. In a moment the boat from stem to stern was wrapped in flames. Panic ensued, and many men whose clothes were on fire jumped into the water, on which ice was floating. Fortunately many boats were near by, and most of the men were quickly rescued. Thirty-six wore sent to hospital in a serious condition suffering from burns, and two were drowned. The accident was clue to workmen transgressing an order forbidding smoking.
