(Received November 8, at 11.5 a.m.) Dr Logan and Carey (Dr Logan’s trainer) pleaded guilty, and were fined £lO and £SO respectively. The packed court included the Channel swimmers Temme and Miss Ilawkcs. The prosecuting attorney said that it was not suggested that Dr Logan endeavored to obtain money by false pretences. Ho submitted that Dr Logan had made a' statutory declaration in order to perpetrate a colossal hoax, thus decreasing the value of statutory declarations. The Lord Mayor, in giving his decision, said: “You are not before me for hoaxing the public, but for committing an offence akin to perjury, for. which you could be imprisoned.”—A. and N.Z .and ' Sun ’ Cable. [A previous message stated; The ‘ Sunday Express ’ has been granted a hearing this week for a summons against Dr Logan for an alleged false statement in the affidavit concerning her Channel swim.]
