CAVERSHAM SCHOOL

EX-PUPILS’ ASSOGIATIOH The annual meeting of the Cavershanl School Ex-pupils and Ex-teachers’ Association was held in the school gymnasium last evening, when Mr R. H. Todd presided, there being 24 members present. Mr Todd, in moving the adoption of the report, said he regretted there were not so many present as ho had anticipated. There had been a good deal of work done in connection with the memorial gates. The matter of tho booklet laid caused him a good deal of worry during the past 12 months. He was pleased to say the work was now in the hands of the printers. It was intended to include in the publication a photo of the new school, also of the gates. Photos had been secured of tho head masters (with the exception of the first), also of the head mistresses, with the exception of one. They had a photo of tho old Sixth Standard room. It was intended to order 250 booklets, and he hoped members would help to sell them. He referred to tho excellent ■s. services rendered by Mr Anscombo in connection with the memorial gates. He had given his services free in connection with this work. The membership of the association was small; h( thought there should ho a membership of 500 or 600. Mr Brown seconded the motion au( complimented the committee on if work. The report and statement of account: were adopted. It was decided that Mr Anscombe b< made a life member of the association. The election of office-bearers resulted; —-Ratron. Mr T. K. Sidey, M.P.; president, Mr Todd; vice-presidents, Mr Grimmett and Mrs Maxwell: secretary, Mrs M'Connell; treasurer. Mr R. Haiw ning; auditor, Mr W. Wright; committee—Mesdames Friend, Palmer. E. Johnson, N. Williams, Messrs J. Russell. A. Johnson, E. J. Allen, J. Brown, and G. T. Palmer. The recommendation of the committee that the opening of the gates takes place on Saturday, November 19, was approved. Mr Hanning referred to tho good work done by Mr Mac Lean and Miss Cupid in connection with the raising of money fpr the gates, and they were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. A vote of thanks was also accorded Mr Todd.
