Galway iending lais resignation as conductor, but intimating that lie would retain the position until alter the lour concerts in March next at the Exhibition, when Sullivan's 'Golden Legend,' Gounod's 'Faust,' Mendelssohn's ''Elijah.' and Mascagm's ' CavalIcrin Rusticana' will he rendered by the Dunedin Choral Society in conjunction with the Wellington Royal Choral Union. l)r Gahva.v staled that it was with much regret that he resigned, but his duties as lecturer in music at the Otago University would make such demands on his time thai it would be impossible for him to cope with the weekly rehearsals of chorus and orchestra. The resignation was received with much regret, the committee placing on record Its great appreciation of the excellent work done by Br Galway during his term of office, and of the progress made by the society under his care. The committee was' pleased to hear from the chairman that Br Galway wished to keep in as close touch with the. society as was possible, and to be ol what assistance he could do to it. The committee heartily congratulated l)r Galway on his appointment as lecturer in music, a position in which they know lie would be very successful. Jt was also decided to congratulate the conductor, the chorus, the orchestra, and the soloists upon the triumphant -uccess of the performance of 'The Messiah ' given in the Exhibition Festival .11 all on the Bth inst.
