KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION

The committee of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association, realising the need for a' free kindergarten in the North-east Valley, approached the Anglican Church and obtained the nso of the Miller Street Hall. It is hoped to open a kindergarten there about February !). Several meetings have been held in connection with this proposed new kindergarten, and much enthusiasm has been shown by residents ol the district. Representatives from the General Committee addressed the parents at the break-up, both afternoon and evening, of tho North-east Valley Public School, and also at the cradle roll tea at the institute, last Saturday. It is customary to have a local committee connected with each kindergarten, comprised chielly of residents in the district who are interested in the work of the kindergarten. Mrs R. A. Ewing has been chosen as the representative from the General Committee on the North-east Valley local committee. .Other ladies who have promised to act. on the committee arc Mesdnmes Elliot, Win. Begg, R. Dag; ger, Means, Wright, Misses Bcgg ami Allen, and it is hoped others will join them, and that when tho kindergarten i.-f opened it will have the support of an enthusiastic committee. The kindergarten takes children from the ages of three to live years, who, under the supervision of trained kindergarten teachers, learn,.by games,_ story and song, many things which will be of use to them in after life.
