Coates) at a meeting ot the Marlborough County Council), ivhen the chairman (Mr I). M/Callum) described to the council the treatment accorded a recent deputation on the subject of public works grants, Cir 11. J. Staco referred to the attitude adopted by the Prime Minister towards the railway deputation when he said that considerable indignation had been aroused by his autocratic bearing. “It seems,” said Mir Stace, “that’we don’t even get common courtesy from him, and surely wc are entitled to that. It seems to me that some of his officers are taking the cue from him also, and flint they treat us in the same inconsiderate manner.”
One speaker said that the most desirable thing would be a separate Government for tho South Island. The south might then receive some consideration.
