SHEEP. OWNERS EXTEND SCHEME [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, September 11. Arrangements iuivo been made tor extending to girls the benefits of the New Zealand sheep owners’ acknowledgment of debt to British seamen fund, and to bring out to the dominion a number of girls who are to be trained for work on the laud. For the training of the girls the trustees of the fund are purchasing a property near Palmerston North for conversion into an establishment like Flock House. The control of the scheme will be undeitaken by the Young Women s Christian Association, which will have_ the irustees of the fund behind it m a financial and advisory capacity. Definite arrangements to this end were made by the Hon. Edward Newman, chairman of directors of the fund, and Mr T. R. Lees, managing director, during a visit to Christchurch. 8o far as is possible, the girls '-elected will be sisters of the boys already chosen for training at Flock House. They will be given sis months’ 1 ruining in such things as domestic work, milking, gardening, beekeeping, poultry farming, and other work, such as girls on the land need to know. It is proposed to start the scheme by bringing out fifty girls a year at the nito° of about twelve every three months.
