(Deceived August 20, at 11.15 a.m.) Mr Spencer Nolan, an amateur wireless operator, last night got into wireless telephone touch with the Macmillan Arctic expedition aboard the steamer Peary, at Etah. Greenland. Captain Macmillan sent Ids compliments to the Governor-General, adding that the expedition was in a fairyland of ice, less than 12deg from the North Polo. The expedition then began telephone experiments, transmitting _ gra mophonc dance music, which Mr Nolan plainly heard. A this stage New Zealand experimenters, working on the same wave-length, intervened, and the messages became incoherent. Later Mr Nolaidtransmitted telephonic messages, and was advised that the expedition clearly heard them. Mr Nolan used a thirty-five metre wave, and the expedition a thirty-1 our metro wave-length. Conversations lasted from 8.30 to 9.15. Mr Nolan intends to resume tonight.
