ROYALTY AT WEMBLEY
VISIT TO PAVILIONS HEW ZEALAND DISPLAY PRAISED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, August 12. Their Majesties spent three-quarters of an hour iu the Australian Pavilion, this being their first .real visit this year. The King described Australia s new Wembley display as a wonderful effort. Listening to the loud speaker s exposition of Australian resources_ and attractions for migrants, he laughingly said; “ That’s the right kind of stuff to give them. It is all important that the people should be taught to trade imperially.” The pavilion authorities presented the Queen with a jewel box made of Australian wood. The King was similarly presented with a travelling rug of Australian wool, with a bridge sot attachment in a wooden case. The Queen was specially interested in tlie bakery and the demonstrations of the use or Australian flour. Their Majesties were impressed with the model of Sydney Harbor, which recalled their visit in 1901. The King observed: “It is an exceptionally fine representation,” Their Majesties then went on to the New Zealand display, the King remarking that the pavilion was greatly improved in comparison with last year. He complimented the authorities on having so successfully developed the artistic side. The King was particularly interested in the wool exhibits, commenting on the friendly rivalry between Australia, Now Zealand, and South Africa in the world’s wool supplies. The party also devoted a considerable time to an inspection of the butter, cheese, and frozen meat exhibits. _ The Queen was impressed by the depiction of Rotorua, of which she had a distinct recollection.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
