SOUTHERN KOREA. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright TOKIO, July 19. The floods are subsiding; and rescue work is proceeding. The casualties are not yet known, bub it is believed than they are limited. There is no popular unrest. The water and electric services are still partially suspended. The latest reports indicate that there was vast dauiage to property, but a comparatively small loss of life, estimated at loss than 1,000. The river at Seoul rose 40ft, wiping out the towns of Ryusan, Nirindo, and Maho. The Ryusan station atone is standing. Three hundred passenger and freight cars were submerged in the yard on Sunday morning. Six thousand residents of Toto were rescued by rafts. At Eitoho 3,000 persons were cut off on a hill-top, and 200 were perched in trees. Seoul is without lights, trams, telephones, and drinking water. Nine thousand houses have been destroyed and 40,000 persons are sheltering in schools and temples. The troops effected thousands of rescues.— Reuter. INDIAN VILLAGES DEVASTATED. CALCUTTA, July 20.
