Ephraim O’Connor, a prominent Orangeman, endeavored to pry into the doings of the Communists. He was accepted as a probationer. Eventually the Communists became suspicious, and at a secret meeting they accused him of trafficking secrets. They drafted nu indictment and ordered hhn_ to sign it. O’Connor counterfeited a signature. The Communists discovered the ruse, and improvised a court-martial. They ordered O’Connor to run the gauntlet of two rows of delegates, by whom ho was severely pummelled. Ho retaliated so furiously _ that the Communists called the police, who arrested O’Connor, hut subsequently released him.—-Sydney ‘ Sun ’ Cable.
