IDOLS BURNT
STRANGE STREET SCENE. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 16. (Received January 17, at 11.15 a.m.) One hundred and fifty Salvation Army converts, in order to demonstrate their penitence, cast their idols into a bonfire in a brazier in ono of Aberdeen’s busiest streets before thousands of spectators. Tho fire was fed with a continuous supply of pipes, tobacco, cigarettes, powder puffs, playing cards, and cards bearing the names of other idols, including horse-race Petting, theatres, kinemas, prize fighting, sensational novels, and whiskv drinking.— A. and N.Z.
