NEW YORK, July 23.

The Rev. Cyril William Emmett (Dean of University 'College, Oxford] died in a local hospital from pneumonia, after a week’s illness. Dean and Mrs Emmett arrived hero recently. The former intended to deliver a series of sermons hero during tho summer.

[The Rev. C. W. Emmett, who wan forty-eight years of ego, was a son of the Rev. W. E. Emmett, lie had a, distinguished scholastic career, first at St. Paul’s School and later at Oxford, where ho devoted particular attention to classical studies, He was select preacher at Oxford from 1918 to 1920, and at Cambridge in 1920. His publications included a number of theological works, and in addition, he contributed largely to the ‘Nineteenth Century Review ’ and several theological publications.]
