TECHNICAL OLD BOYS v. ’VARSITY B.

Old Boys attacked from the initial bully, and forced a corner, from which Hinton opened l tho score with a hot shot. ' Varsitv then attacked, Swan clearing, and ’ setting the Old Boys’ forwards in motion. Offside play nullified their efforts. Macfarlane took the ball down and centred well, from which Hinton scored. Old Boys 2-0. ’Varsity attacked, and Frengley, following up well, scored after the hall had been stopped by Swan. Half-time was called with the score 2-1. In the second half both forward lines kept the ball moving, but good defence saved much further score. Old Boys again attacked, and Hinton scored his third goal. Technical 3-1. From a hard hit bv tho backs Harris followed up and beat the ’Varsity goalie, making tho score —Technical 4-1. ’Varsity now did most of the attacking,-and shortly before time was rewarded by D. Aitken registering from a scramble. Time was called shortly afterwards, with tho score— Technical Old Boys 4 ’Varsity ... ... ... ... ... 2

Sew Hoy and Harris worked well in the halves for Old Boys, as did Swan in goal. Both full-backs, Lockhart and Wills, were sound in defence, Watson, centre-half for ’Varsity,* was the mainstay of their team. ’VARSITY A v. GYMNASTIC.

’Varsity attacked, but a penalty returned tho ball. A beautiful pass from Leonard at the P,ed twenty-five to Miller saw him score from a difficult angle. Reds now attacked. Some nice forward play, commencing from Hewitt, was defeated by Mitford. The attack was now reversed from the Bine loft wing by Miller. A scoop by Barrett made a dangerous moment for the Reds, but Hayward saved brilliantly. ’Varsity attacked again, and Miller, securing, gave Hayward no chance in goal. Immediately from the ensuing bully Reds attackedbut Leonard at centre for ’Varsity again got his forwards going, and Bridgman shot a second goal. Reds now livened up, and Gardiner took the ball down, centred to Pye, who opened Gymnastic’s score, the spell ending 2 to 1, in ’Varsity’s favor. Tlie second spell opened brightly, Fleet and Maule defending well for Reds, who were being kept busy. Up and down play ensued, and from midfield Hewitt centred to Gardiner, who evened the score with a perfect shot. The game after this was very even. A scramble in the Red circle enabled Berney to put his side ahead, and the game ended ’Varsity „ ... 3 Gymnastic 8 Messrs -Mitchell and Starr controlled the game to the satisfaction of all. Leonard and Bridgman, for ’Varsity, and Maule, Fleet, and Hargreave, for Gymnastic, played well. SECOND GRADE. Technical Old Boys D 5, Technical Old Bovs C 3. City 4, ’Varsity C 1. Gymnastic 3, ’Varsity D 1. THIRD GRADE. City 6, Technical Old Boys 3. OTHER CENTRES. Wellington.—Wellington 1, Petone 1; Wakafu 3, Karori 1, Hurt 9, University 0; Wesley 5, Hula 2. LADIES’ GAMES. MOMONA v. OTAGO. Tiiis match was very evenly contested. Tho first goal was scored for Otago by Miss Haulm (left wing) by a fine individual effort. Otago’s second goal was scored by Miss Lyders (right wing). Momona had many chances of scoring during tho first spell, but their shooting was not accurate. When the second spell was started,, for some time Otago was on the defensive, but it was not till later that Miss Grant (centre forward) took the ball down and shot Momona’s only goal. Moinona’s goalie (Mias Hanson) made some fine stops, as did also Otago's goalie, but the hitting of the latter was not very strong. The final score was : Otago 2 Momona 1 B GRADE. Green Island 6, Waiata No. 2 0. Waiata No. 1 0, Otago No. 1 0. Waiata played one short. Momona. 4, Ravensbonme 0. Taieri 10, Triangle B2 0. Scorers for Taieri : H, Hanlin 6, A. Stevenson 2, D.
