OTAGO HUNT
Tho Otago Hunt held the opening meet of the .season on the old Taieri Racecourse, kindly lent for (ho occasion by Air J. Ellis. ” Tho weather being so' fine, the. meet was witnessed by the largest gathering of spectators that ever assembled at a meet. A large number of horses were out to qualify, among them being the Master (Mr R. Brunton) on Sunbeam, Acting Deputy-master (T. Dalzell) on Chummy, Miss APLeod on Tornado, Mrs AlTvay on Ukulele, Miss Mowat on Rob Roy, “Miss Smythe. on Kenny, Mi's Conn on Springbok, Miss Dalzell on Queenio, Mr I. Tilson on Claverhouse, R. C. Reed on Rapid 1 River, H. Eady on Vincent, J. MTvay on Rongahere, A. S. Ellis on Hard Hit, A. F. Ellis on Magliera, E. J. Ellis on Prize Rose, D. O’Connell on Straight Flush, G. Dawson on Tainni 11., J. Mowat on Elaine, L. Waite on Overland, C. M'Mullan on Golden Gift, L. Mowat on Tahuna, G. Fiddling on General Advance, W. Fielding on ,]off,rc, J. Andrews on Cartoon, and several others. A ladies’ jumping competition was hold during the afternoon, and resulted as follows; —Mrs Conn (on Sunbeam) 1, Miss (Mowat (on Rob Roy) 2, and Airs APKny (on Rockhampton) 3. After the prizes bad been presented by the president of the club (Mr B. K. Irwin) the visitors v ere entertained at afternoon tea, which was provided by Air and Airs Irwin.
