MINING
RISE AND SHINE OPERATIONS. The Rise and Shine dredge had a steady run last, week, and worked under conditions similar to those of the previous week. Fairly tight wash, carrying a number of large stones, was met with in the ■h-mcr ground 1 towards the east side, where tho better prospects were got, tho shallow ground being somewhat patchy. Bottom of soft red day, with some sandstone, waa reached at an average depth of about 31ft.
