PROHIBITION IN U.S.A

TIGHTENING UP THE LAW.

Press Association—-By Telegraph—Copyright.

WASHINGTON, July 25,

It is expected) that the diplomatic exchange between Great Britain and the United States concerning the smuggling of liquors into the' United States from British sources will result in a truer state 6l Prohibition in tho United States. Tho State Department has been for some time studying the situation, especially as it affects smuggling from the Bahamas, Canada, and England. Tho questions of territorial waters and tho three-mile limit have received consideration. It was determined that even if smuggling operations occur outside the three-mile limit, it is a conspiracy to violate tho United States laws, and that a friendly nation would not countenance snob action by its nationals.—A. and'N.Z. Cable.
