Mr P. D. M'Nab has boon appointed star-tor for tho Canterbury Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting. Considerable .surprise was felt in racing circles when it was known that Mr A. G. Wood had been superseded, as ho was informed of the new arrangement only a few days ago. M v Wood acted as starter at the Wairoate mooting yesterday, and it is understood that this marked his final appeal ami A tho barrier, as ho lias decided te u,.in all his starting appointments. His hcalin has not been good lately, and ho will probably leave Christchurch and Bottle in tho North Island.

Many kittle ran at Wabnate yesterday in. the colors of the North Canterbury sportsman, Mr W, A. Nicholla, who also owns Frisco Mail, though the latter is raced on lease by Mr P. Delargoy. The two homes should have been bracketed on the totalisator, but for Mr Nicholl’s neglect to make tho necessary announcement to the club. Ho was fined £lO by the judicial stewards.
