The Kaiapoi Flour Mills, a four-storied building, were completely destroyed by fire early this morning. It is thought that the outbreak was due to the. heating of a pulley block. About twenty tons of flour were destroyed, while 11,000 sacks of wheat were so damaged as to bo practically useless. The mills belonged tojtho estate of the lato Richard_ Evans. _ The building and stock were insured in the New Zealand Company. The insurances are £IO,OOO on the stock and £5,800 on the mill and plant.
