DRUIDISM

A.D. Bro. Edwards presided over a fair attendance at the Linden Lodge, Roslyn. After routine business bad been transacted a candidate was received into the order, and indications were evident of more coming forward. It was decided to enter for the lloss Stewart teams competition. The lodge closed at an early hour.

The Lily of the Valley Lodge members turned up in good force to greet A.D. Pro. Bedford, the presiding officer. A considerable amount of correspondence was dealt with, and several milters were banded to (he secretary to attend In. Eleven candidates sought admission and several were proposed, members being eager to get the roll increased to 150. It was decided to enter for the Rosa Stewart competition, and a team being selected it carried out the initiation in a creditable manner. The officers pay an official visit to Otago Lodge on the occasion of the presentation of a I’.D.P. collar to Bro. Fleming. Tho bards reported only one sick member who bud to go to tho hospital for treatment. After business had been transacted an adjournment was made for the purpose of entertaining the new members at games of cards and quoits. D.P. Bro. Ockwcll, accompanied by the lI.A. Druid and Iris officers, journeyed to tho Bay Lodge. Queen’s Drive, on. the occasion of a V.A. competition being hold. They were Druidical'v welcomed by Acting A.D. Bro. 31‘Niven. Members from tho city lodges also attended, about fifty being present. After routine business had been disposed of the installation of officers took place for the current term : —A.D., Bro. Walker; 1.A., Bro. 3lanniug; Sec., Bro. Cox (re-elected); Trees., Bro. Anderson (re-elected); LG., Bro. Whitty; 0.G., Bro. Smith; A.D. Bards, Bros. Ruston and Cunningham; V. Bards, Bros. Day and 31‘Niven. The installing officers (D.P. Bro. Ockwcll and P.D.P. Bro. Reid) were accorded a vote of thanks for their services. A candidate was received into the order. The Chapter Officers then took charge for the holding of the competition, and six brethren handed in their names After a careful rendering on the part of all, the judges (P.A. Bros. Oliver and Tonkins.}-]) awarded Bra. Robertson, Linden Lodge, the prize. Light refreshments were handed round and much appreciated, and a hearty vote or thanks was accorded the P».v Gjdge for the reception. 1 The"tedowing lodges have entered for tho Boss Stewart teams competition: Linden, Lily of the Valley, Pride of 3lorninaton. Bay, Ail Nations, and others are expected to enter later on. A.D. Bro. G. MTntosh has been presiding over fair attendance-, at the Alexandra Lodge, No, 21 The Bards’ report at last meeting showed that at present i'-T brothers were on the sick list. This is very ■welcome in view of the fact that a considerable amount of sick pay has had to bo voted daring the past half-year. A sum of money wa- vote! in response to an appeal from All Nations Lodge for a needy case. The members of tho lodge were entertained recently at a euchre tournament by the members of the A.O.F. All who were present thoroughly enjoyed tho evening’s entertainment-. Arrangements are being made for the annual social, which is always a great success and attracts considerable attention locally.

The adjourned meeting of the All Nations Lodge was held on Jun-o 28 in tho Druids’ Hall, Port Chalmers, Bro. Stevenson presiding over a good attendance of members. The usual routine business was tarried out, and Bro. Craig’s report on tho .rick brothers was duly received. It was decided to adept Otago Lodge’s nvitation to attend tho meeting on July 4 to do honor to P.D.P. Bro. Fleming. It was decided to forward a letter of condolence to tho widow of Bro. Leek, of tho local lodge of Foresters, he being a very old member of tell order. Bro. Leftwitch reported on the progress of the euchre tournament with the other societies, stating that the lodge now occupied third position. It was decided to set up a committee to arrange for the annual social, and it was also decided to enter a team for the Ross Stewart competition. One new member was proposed for membership. The usual loyal toasts were duly honored, and the lodge closed at 9.15 p.m. A.D. Bio. Lawson occupied the chair at the usual meeting of the Pride of Mornington Lodge on Juno 16, and had the pleasure of presiding over a largo attendance. Official visits were received from D.P. Bro. Ockwcll, R.A.D. Bro. Whitty and his officers, and the A.D. and members of the Enterprise Lodge, who were received with musical honors. Routine business was promptly disposed of, following which a candidate was initiated into the order in a very impressive manner. The A.D. called on the D.P. to install Bro. Wyatt as V.A., this brother being unavoidably absent last lodge night. The Koval Arch Chapter then took control of the meeting in order to present the general efficiency shield to the lodge. In doing so, Bro. Whitty referred to the excellent record established by tho lodge, and to the good effect these competitions had in tho order. A.D. Bro. Lawson acknowledged the presentation on behalf of the lodge. R.A. Secretary Bro. Reid then presented Bro. Lawson with a handsome trophy donated for the most efficient Arch Druid. Bro. Lawson suitably responded, giving great credit to tho past officers for their assistance. The usual toasts were honored, and were responded to by D.P. Bro. Ockwcll, R.A.D. Bro. Whitty, and A.D. Bro. Tucker (Enterprise Lodge).
