WAR RELIEF
APPLICATIONS INCREASING. [Psa United Pukss Association.] WELLINGTON, April 28. The local War Relief Association finds tho number of applications for relief steadily increasing. This is put down largely to tho fact that a number of men who were demobilised fit were not really fit. This is a result of men having _declearcd themselves fit to the Medical Board on the. transports prior to disembarkation in Now Zealand, 1110 causo in most cases being the natural desire _to return to relatives, and to resume civilian life. Had they stated their disability they would have received treatment at once, but now they find it more difficult to recover their health. Tho association also finds it difficult to assess tho exact .amount of relief they are entitled to. It is considered that the association’s work will be at least as arduous for eomeyeans to come as it was after tho armistice. Tho funds in hand amount to £48,935, of which £46,237 is invested.
