LOCAL LOANS

Several votes were taken yesterday on loan proposals. The Brunner .ratepayers, by 127 to 9, carried a poll for a loan of £I,OOO to reconstruct the Wallsend-Taylorville bridge. Now Plymouth ratepayers voted solidly in favor of the proposal to pay_ increased rates of interest in order to raise a loan for the hydro-elcctric development scheme, 1,485 votes being cast in favor of the proposal and 235 against. The Masterton Borough drainage loan proposal, totalling £29,OCX), was carried by a majority of 847. For the hydro-electric proposal of £260,000, the voting was 1,715 for, and 218 against.
