UNIVERSITY ADDITIONS

BIOLOGY AND PHYSICS DEPARTMENTS. Messrs Anscombe, Smith, and Associates have been instructed by the council of the University of Otago to prepare plans for an extension to the biology department at the Museum. King street. The extension will consist of a two-story building in brick. On the ground floor will be a laboratory (36ft Sin by 24ft lOin), a lecturers’ room (16ft by Bft), an entrance vestibule (18ft by 9ft), and a conservatory (15ft 6in by 6ft) ; while on the second floor will be installed a lecture room (55ft 9in by 24ft lOin) and a diagram room (18rt Sin by 9ft). It is expected that the contract will be let next month.

Plans axe also being prepared for the new physics building, which will be erected as an extension to the arts building, on the main university site, running 144 ft south from the Oliver class rooms.
