BURNSIDE STOCK SALES
. Tins Day. There were large yardings of fa.t stock in all departments at 'Bumside to-day. The quality was very good, especially that of fat cattle. There was again an extra large yarding of store cattle, but this class in particular is almost unsaleable. Sheep.—A large yarding, numbering 3.432 head. The quality was not of such a high* standard as the previous week's entry. At the commencement of the sale competition was good, at prices a little in advance of last week's rates, but as the sale progressed; prices receded to the level of tlio=e ruling last week. For medium-class sheep, in some instances, prices were lower. There were no extra prime heavy-weight sheep forward. Prime wethers made from 42s up to 52s 9d; medium from 34s to 40i>; lijht and unfinished kinds from 25s upwards. Prime ewes made from 30s up to 39s 9d; medium from 25s to 295; light and aged from 20s upwards. Pat Lambs. —A large yarding, numbering 1,506 head. The quality was of a medium description. The demand was not very brisk, and the prices realised were about equal to late rates. Graziers wcvjr buying inferior lambs, a-nd this hud the effect of steadying the market. Prices ranged from 16s up to 30s 3d per head. Fat Cattle.—An extra Wfte yarding, a total of 338 head being offered for saje. Som<, ot the pens contained animals of g-ood quality, but the hulk of the yarding was of a medium description. At the time of going ;o. press there was a good: sale for prims be«, and prices were a shade easier than last week's rates; hut it was anticipated that before ths close of the sale prices would bo baek fully 15s per head. Extra prime heavy-weight bullocks made from £22 up to £24 10s; prime, from £lB 10s to £2l 10s; medium, £l6 to £18; light a.nd unfinished sorts, from £l3 10s upwards. Prime heifers made from £H to £ls 15(3; medium, from £l2 to £l3 10s; light and aged, from £8 10s upwards. Store Cattle—An extra large yarding, which included somS nice quality three-year-old bullocks. Prices were very low, it being almost, impossible to effect, sales. A large number of pens were pu«sed in unsold. Three-year-old bullocks were sold at prices ranging from £8 to £8 5s per head. Pigs.—A large -yarding, composed mostly of unfinished sorts. On account or the large yarding, the market was somewhat slack, and prices receded to the extent oi 5a per head on lot* rates. Best baconors realised from 9d to 9fd per lb, and best porkers from 9d to lOd per lb.
