KAHANAMOKU DEFEATED,
FRESH RECORDS ESTABLISHED.
Ludy Langer, captain of the University of California swimming team, who broko three American and two world's records at. tho Panama-Pacific Exposition, won tho 880 yds raco at Honolulu on February 22 at the annual mid-Pacific swimming carnival and broko tho American record which ho mado himself by nearly five seconds. Duke Kahonamoku was second in the raco and Marion Perry, of Honolulu, third. The timo was 12m!n 1 l-ssec. The American record before was 12min 6sec. Langer was defeated in the 440yd8 swim by_tho Duke, who made tho distance in smin 31 3-ssec, beating tho previous record of smin 32 l-ssec held by Langer. Beniicia Lane, of Honolulu, defeated Frances Cowells, of San Francisco, in the EOyds swim. Time: 34 3-ssec. Miss Cowells held tho American girl championship for this distance.
Tho 50yds dash was won by ClarenceLane, of Honolulu, in 25 2-ssec,
