The Otago Centre of the New Zealand" Amateur Athletic Association intend holding a popular sports meeting on Saturday week in aid of the local relief fund. A splendid programme of events has been arranged, and every branch of sport is being catered for. Primary and secondary school contests will be a prominent "feature, and the most popular events have been selected for the local athletic and harrier clubs. Events are also provided for other sports bodies, Territorials, and National Reserve, and a, squad of picked gymnasts will give an exhibition. A meeting of ladies will be held to-morrow evening. to arrange f for afternoon tea to be obtained. The schools of the City are giving their assistance to the meeting, and their fife and drum bands will march to the sports from their different districts. The Kailrarai, St. Kilda, and Citizens Bands have all offered assistance. • A large number of entries already been received, and when they close to-morrow evening it is expected" that they will be a record. The Caledonian Society have granted the .free use,of the ground, and with the support of the public, the. Otago Centre expect to hand over a good cheque to the fund. Up to the present 71 active athletes from Dunedin clubs have left with the Expeditionary Force, and those loft behind intend making this a memorable meeting.
