ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
Itupcrt Braimbridge, who was knocked down by a cyclist m Princes strcot on Saturday, received more severe injuries to his scalp than was at first .supposed. Hi: was walking across the street towards a iramcar going to the Gardens, when ho was run down by a cyclist, and in falling his head struck the wheel of the tram with such lorcc that the scalp was torn away for a length of 4in or sin across the top of his head. Ho was attended to by Dr Evans, and was then able to proceed' to his home in Dundas street. Mr Robert Chalmers, a retired farmer, of Waiwcra, living at 53 Preston orescent, Bellekuowes, died yesterday afternoon as the result of poison being accidentally given to him by his wife. At middav Mr Chalmers had an attack of influenza" and his wife gave him what she believed to bo influenza mixture. After she had given him what she. thought was the medicine ho began to struggle and gasp for breath, and becoming alarmed she ran to her daughter and showed her the bottle. 'J he daughter tsaw that the bottle contained vapor eresolime, and immediately rang up Dr Evans, who tried every means to brim' deceased round, but without success. The deceased was 79 years of age. Mrs Chalmers suffers from defective eyesight, and unfortunately took by mistake the wivw bottle from a shelf. '
