News has been received that peace has been concluded at Lhasa, and that all Chinese troops will quit Tibet.
/ The American Federation of Catholic Societies have passed a resolution denouncing divorce on any terms, and regretting its growing prevalence. Dr Mackin has reached Sydney after a year's tour of the world, during which he visited many leading European and other hospitals, and gained much valuable information. He leaves for New Zealand on Saturday. A violent storm did much damage in the villages of Sciaux and Ville Longe (France).
There is an outbreak of fire in portion of the Newcastle Wallsend colliery workings. The area involved is small, and is walled off. The other portions of the mine are not affected.
Kid M'Coy, the American boxer, who was arrested recently in London on a charge of jewel robbery at Ostend, has been discharged. Serviceable rains are falling in South Australia, and the wheat areas are much benefited.
