Further evidence of the reticence imposed upon Government servants by a recent circular issued .by Cabinet was found in the! refusal by the local registrar to supply details of the vital statistics, which "have hitherto always been open to the Press, and are now only available in the Regis-trar-General's returns, when months have elapsed. A ' Herald ' reporter, visiting the Mouniahakt State Kami yesterdav to obtain in< formation concerning the experimental work carried on and likely to be of interest to farmers and others, was also refused information on account of the circular. . WELLINGTON, December 1. With reference to the telegrain re the reticence of the registrar regarding the local vital statistics, inquiry by a ' Post' reporter shows that instructions have been issued by the RegistrarGeneraTs office, to the 'various district registrars to supply the papers with the'se statistics each month. The Wanganui registrar apparently had not received the instructions.whentho request was made to him. •
