DOMINION DOINGS
[Per United Press Association.] OAMARU, April 16. Daniel Docherty, cook at Omarama Station, was found dead in a hotel at Kurow. The inquest disclosed the fact that death was due to heart disease, accelerated by drinking. HASTINGS, April 16. The Inspector of Orchards to-day forwarded to Auckland twenty-five cases of local-grown apples and pears for cool storage, and the Department of Agriculture made similar consignments from each fruitgrowing centre, with a view to proving the advantage of cool storage. It is felt that development in this direction will prove of financial benefit to fruitgrowers generally. CHEISTCHURCH, April 16. An inquest was held to-day on the body of James Orr, who shot himself through the brain on Wednesday, in a fit of jealousy, on the doorstep of his sweetheart's house in Falsgrave street. The evidence showed that Orr had been in a very excited state. A verdict was returned of suicide, but that there was no evidence of insanity.
