DUNEDIN COURSING.

The April -meeting of the Dunedin Plumpton Coursing Club commenced. at Forbury Park this afternoon in the presence of a large number of sportsmen. The slipper was Mr A. Aitken, with Mr M. Quirk as assistant; the slip steward, Mr G. Davis; the ground steward, Mr W. Millier; the paddock steward, Mr F.Kilmartin; the hare steward, Mr E. Merrv; the judge, Mr T. Kett. Sixty-three hares were got in readiness. They were looked after beforehand by Mr A. Cursey. A start was made at 1.55 p.m. with the MAIDEN STAKE. Winner, £SO; run-ner-up, £10; two dogs, £4 each. —First Round.— Mr J. Mitchell's Bright Eyes (Merrv Boy —Star Rose) led Mr S. A. Jones's Solution by ten lengths, and did all the work till puss escaped. Mr J. Jones's Salute (Bugle Call— Dartmoor) led Mr 0. Kelly's Kilcoo by three lengths, and Kilooo got very little of the scoring. Mr A. Fearns's Sorcery (President —The Witch) beat Messrs Paterson and Robertson's Pay Day, leading by four lengths and killing on the second turn, before Pay Day had scored. Messrs Prebble and Stevenson's Black Chapter (Blackwater —Index) led Mr R. Clark's, jun., Bill Mahone by two lengths and won easily, but both worked very wide. Mr A. Jones's Bright Plume (Black Feather—Shy Lizzie) beat Mt A. Brown's Wilful Witch. Wilful Witch led, but Bright Plume did most of the work, and once bowled oveT the hare, which escaped for the moment, and was then nabbed by Wilful Witch. Mr J. Jones's Wolfe's Schnapps (Goldlink—Fanny Parneli) beat Mrs H. E. Whitlaw's Braddon's Luck. Schnapps led three lengths, and then after pursuit abreast both appeared to participate in the kill. Messrs R. H. and J. W. Price's Arrah na Pogue (Faugh-a-ballagh—Puzzle), led Mr M. Quirk's Reform by five lengths, and, chasing alone, killed on the second turn. Mr C: Hay's Captain Cook (Kohupapa— Midget) led Mr C. J. Reeves's Welcome Nugget by four lengths, and won very decisively. Mr R. Penman's All Over (Gone Over— Jubilee) beat Messrs O'Hara and Sinclair's (ilenloth in a course that could not be followed by any but the judge. Mr A. Brown's Roosevelt (President —■ The Witch) beat Mr J. Taylor's Pentridge, leading by two lengths and outworking Pentridge. Mr R. M'Dowell, jun.'s, Kentish Fire (Feu-de-Joie—Bird on the Wing) beat Messrs R. H. and J. M. Price's Tattoo by a little in _the run up, and had the best of the exchanges.
