AUCKLAND, September 25. A nine-roomed house in the Manukauroad, Parnoll, owned by Mr G. L. Thomson and occupied by Mrs Woodhouse, was partly destroyed by fire last'night. The damage to tho house is £100: The house is covered by an insurance of £3OO in the State Office. The furniture is insured in the London and Liverpool and Globe Office for £l5O and in the Commercial Union for £IOO.
The New Zealand Christian Endeavor Convention resolved to hold the next convention in Christchurch,
AUCKLAND, September 25. Edward Turner and E. A. Perkins, auctioneers, were charged with selling fruit unfit for human consumption. The facts were admitted. It was contended that only the good fruit in each lot had been offered, and was sold on the understanding that the purchasers would throw away the balance. The magistrate said that he had no desire to hamper the fruit trade, but the public health must be properly safeguarded. Ho reserved his decision.
