OTAGO A. AND P. SOCIETY.

The monthly meeting of tho Committee of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society wxs held this morning, and attended by seventeen members, Mr P. Pattullo (president) in the chair. Accounts amounting to £l2O 6s 8d were passed for payment. The Chamber of Commerce forwarded

samples of wheat and oats grown out of season and sent by the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce.—lt was resolveti to thank the Dunedin Chamber and fulfil their request by showing the grain to persons interested. The Department of Agriculture intimated that the Otago Society's request for the establishing of an experimental farm in Otago would be carefully considered.— Members expressed satisfaction with the rcplv. The Auckland Society forwarded copies of instructions issued by the Ontario Experimental Union to those who take part in the agricultural experiments carried on under that Union's management.—lt was resolved to thank the Auckland Society for the useful information, which is in the direction of showing how the results can be recorded to advantage. - Mr Jas. Ross, a member of Committet now at Home, sent a report as delegate t< '.he International Conference of Sheep breedrs held at Derby. The National Sheepbreeders' Associatioi of England notified that the Otago A. and P. Society had been granted affiliation. The Committee discussed at length tho question of how to further improve the country bays competition at the winter show, and it was resolved to procure more information for the next meeting. The programme of the summer show was revised and the prizes in all classes were considerably increased, whilst new and interesting classes were added. It was decided to have more of the judging done on ihe first day, so that the amusements of the second day could be arranged mora methodically. The Committee fixed the 27th September for the horse parade and the 29th and 30th November for tho show.
