At the inquest on the body of a Chinapan who hanged himself in his cell :it Lyttelton Gaol on Thursday night, medical ividenco was given that deceased had committed suicide while in a fit of brooding ieprcsskm. A verdict was returned accordingly. One of liie sailors of the Austrian warship Panther committed suicide at Ancklaud by hanging him.-olf on board the warship on Saturday night. The man was a petty officer, and was nineteen years oid. When the list of promotions was made known on Saturday his name was not included amongst them, and it is said that he became very depressed. This is thought to bo the cause of bis rash act. He was employed in the engine room, and wars named Hcnrich Goru-h. Deceased will bo buried ashore to-morrow, and will bo honored with an escort of twenty-four and a Tolley at tSa graveside. Charles Bartcnshaw, a resident of Durham street, Auckland, was found in the Domain by an employee of the Kauri Timber Company with nis throat cut almost from ear to ear. The man was quite dead. A razor lying alongside the body had evidently been the instrument used. There were no papers, or in fact anything, to show any reason for the suicide. Walter Hesketh, a single man, employed by White and Co., Umber me recants. Aldington, was killed on Satujdav morning by a heavy piece of timber falling on md fracturing his skull. At the inquest lb* jury returned a verdict of "Accidental death.” The body of John Kckman, seaman on the Lyttelton Harbor Board's dredge, who was drowned through the capsizing of a boat a few days ago. was found floating in Lyttelton Harbor yesterday afternoon, and :ake>t> posnassiou of bv the police. Roy Kemp, aged three, a son of Captain Cemp, was accidentally drowned at Karasoea. .
