UNIVERSITY COUNCIL
The monthly meeting of the University Council was held this afternoon and attended by His Honor Air Justice Williams (Chancellor), Professor Sale, l>r Shand, Dr Hockeu, Dr Church, and Dr Burns. ■ The Finance Committee reported that tho various applications for increases of salaries, and also the matter of the appointment of a typist, had been postponed on account of the" small attendance of members of Committee, —Adopted. The House Committee recommended that the, blank wall opposite the entrance of tba students’ room be used for the purpose of placing on it the athletic and debating shields. It had been resolved that tho fittings of tho new pathological laboratory be carried out in the manner recommended by Dra Scott and Roberts in their letters to the Council, and that Mr Gibbs (carpenter) be employed to do the work. The Oommittoe recommended that Mr Christie bo asked to give an estimate of plumbing work required at the Museum.—The report was adopted. The chairman of fhe Professorial Board wrote that at a meeting of his Board it was resolved to recommend that the Cornell should become an annual subscriber to the Royal Historical Society.—Agjrocd to. A letter was received from. Air T. E. Donne, of the Tourist Department, addressed to tire curator of the Museum, stating that Major-general Bobley, of Ixmdon, had a fine collection of Maori tattooed heads—thirty in all—which be was desirous should go to New Zealand. Tho price was £1,500. —Received.
