■ The feature of the returns so far reported this week is the highly reproductive nature of the dredging being done at Waikaia. The Masterton dredge is fairly on the lead, and as this is not the first big return from the dredge it will' not take so very many more of a <mrr>lar nature to reimburse the original shareholders their outlay. The capital (£5,000, of which £4,000 is in oontiibating shares) is a small one. The returns of the Duke of Gordon, another dredge which has won rich yields, are not usually made public, bat ttie Mystery Flat and Lady Annie dredges are doing well, and the waikaia fairly well. The Hessey's dredge is not just now working to the same advantage as she did for some time previously. Up to the - present the New Fairdown has been the unlucky venture in the district. BETDENS.
