Count Yon Bulow, in the Reichstag, explained the scope of the new commercial treaties, which become operative on February 15, 1906. He also announced that Russia had recognised the Brussels Sugar Convention. THE WOOL SALES. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, February 2. The wool sales dosed above last week’s prices. Compared with the dosing prices of the November sales, medium merinoes are unchanged; faulty, best, /.d cheaper; fine cross-breds, unchanged; low, 10 per cant, cheaper; lambs, unchanged. During the sales 143.000 bales were catalogued, of which 76,600 were sold, Continental buyers taking 6,000, American 4,0C0, and held over S,OOO bales. The sales rndaded the folkrwing clips : —Tara, 9^d; Eaufcawa, ll^d; Aldtio, llfd; Rockwood, Is 9|d. Dalgsty and Co. report having received the following cable from their head office, dated London, Ist February :—“ Wool sales closed firm, atid lately reported rates are fully maintained. As compared with closing rates of last scries, prices for scoured merino wools are at [rar; good greasy merino wools at par to 5 per cent, low®; greasy, inferior, faulty, and earthy descriptions, 5 per cent, lower; fine cross-bred wools at par; medium and coarse cross-bred wools, 7j to 10 p® cent, lower. Out of the net quantity available for sale, some 73£00 bales have been sold for Home consumption, 61,000 bales for the Continent, 4,(KX) bales for America, leaving 5,000 bales to be carried forward to the next season.” THE MARKETS. Tin : Stock, 16£43 tons; spot, 3,6®) tons; afloat, 4,857 tons; deliveries, 2,807 tons. Lead, £l2 15a 7^d. Wheat ; 10,000 quarters of Australian February shipment sold at 33s 3d, and 11,000 quarters March shipment at 33s lid- .
